The Berkeley Water Center

Who we are

The Berkeley Water Center is an inter-disciplinary gathering of over 70 academic faculty, researchers, post docs and graduate students across several departments at UC Berkeley and the Berkeley National Laboratory pursuing studies in water and promoting water-related research. Together, with external partners in the industry, government, and non-profits, researchers incorporate Public Health, Water Infrastructure, Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, Economics and Law at the center to cast a wide net across the university community. 

Our goals:

  • Increase global awareness of the Berkeley Water Center by promote world-renowned water research and scholarship

  • Highlight the innovative and entrepreneurial water research performed from the classroom to laboratory to practical implementation, focusing on implementing solutions and creating new technologies to solve the growing water crises

  • Share innovation and development that impacts California, world, urban and rural water systems to create more sustainable practices reflecting climate change

  • Create future leaders across a broad spectrum of academia and the field across the world
